Migrating from a Homegrown Legacy Application to Salesforce Loyalty Cloud

Сlient:

The customer is a company specializing in the development and operation of luxury shopping villages, located in Europe and China with around 1000 boutiques of leading international fashion and lifestyle brands. The project was about migrating databases of a legacy application to Salesforce Sales Cloud over three phases (SIT, UAT, and Prod). During the process, challenges like complex source data setup and complex mappings were faced with a tight timeframe

Challenges:

  • Complex source data setup and mappings
  • New relationships between different data points had to be created
  • Frequent changes to the mappings and business logic due to data quality issues on the source side
  • Dependency on development track of the new system getting built, leading to delays in the schedule
  • Unorganized data at the source and lack of clarity on execution plan for data migration stream

Results:

  • Migration delivered successfully despite an ambitious timeline
  • 138,479,818 unique data records loaded on the target side with 276,366,229 record inserts or updates in total
  • Data quality issues were solved early in the process with ctc identifying gaps
  • Data complexity optimized during migration
  • Change control on mappings and business logics successfully managed
  • System configuration issues as a main source of problems identified and solved
  • Data migration stream successfully executed in parallel to development stream
